Smile like a Staffy :D

I was feeling quite sorry for myself when i returned home from my netball game. I received a netball to the face at point blank range . . . FROM MY OWN TEAM MATE! It took a moment to realise what had happened and then another minute or two to casually feel my face with my hand to make sure my nose was still there!! Luckilly i had some pictures i took over the weekend to edit & i forgot all about my bruised face :) Milo's humans are holidaying it up in Thailand at the minute so i bribed him with food for 5 minutes at his holiday home :) I haven't photographed a smiling Staffy yet so i had to use the opportunity!! Milo will be having a shoot with his incredibly cute human brother & sister at a later date, but for now - i encourage everyone to smile like Milo tomorrow :)

My Perfect Guy

Aidan and I will celebrate 4 years together on Feb 14. I wrote the following just after i turned 21 - about one month before i had any idea that the guy i'd had a crush on since 2001 (who was inconveniently my best friend Phil's brother!) was about to sweep me off my feet!! I put it up on my blog on January 5, 2007 (back when myspace was where it was at)!

Someone asked me today why i don't have a boyfriend and what super powers will a man have to posses to convince me to give up my beloved life in single town????

Anyone who knows me knows of my undying love for Robert Peter Williams. . . I don't want to be just another obsessed fan'! I'm not!! Yes, I'd very much love to be pursued by one Mr Williams but would I do as I've done repeatedly since I was 16, and simply lose interest once he liked me back??? What could have happened in my 21 years on this earth to turn me into such a picky young lady!! I am aware that I'm not perfect and I don't expect the man I might love to be either but I should see them as perfect and they me shouldn't they?? Isn't that what love is supposed to be? Loving someone for reasons noone else can see or even understand?

What am I looking for in a man…?? An unusual fellow, someone who's good looking without trying, who is honest when needed and tells me white lies when I choose to hear them (insert does my bum look big?, is she prettier than me?, etc) Someone who can make any chore or obligation a fun event. Charisma – a presence when they walk into a room, and a feeling that will stay with me forever, that won't fade or disappear as life slows down. Someone strong, not just in the physical sense but emotionally and mentally, someone fun and adventurous, someone who wants to see the world with me by his side. Someone who sees the glass as half full, who will kiss me in the rain and watch a girlie movie with me when I'm feeling needy. Someone who remains quiet and fetches me whatever I may need during the worst few days of PMS and someone to laugh at me if I take life too seriously. Someone who makes the absolute best out of every situation, who .looks forward to Christmas and genuinely likes spending time with my family. Someone who sees my Sammy puppy as I do – the most beautiful dog in the entire world. Someone with an incomparable soul that makes their eyes sparkle when they smile. Someone who will stroke my hair once I'm asleep. Someone who appreciates life and everything that they are given in that life.

See I'm not THAT bad. I never want to settle. I vow never to be with someone for the sake of 'having someone'. But only to never settle for anything but the best.

People may have thought i was asking too much? :p My friend Cenovito bought me a shirt from Disneyland when he visited America - it has the Mister Men on it & says "Looking for Mr Perfect"

Aidan is more wonderful than i can explain - he can tell what i'm thinking even when i haven't thought it yet. He makes me laugh, mostly at him rather than with him. He explains to our fur children why he yelled at them so they know he's not just being mean and he hides the chocolate from me when it's necessary. He puts up with morning me (who is not a friendly Bear) & still tells me he loves me when he leaves for work - that's a feat as even i don't love me in the morning time!

I have no doubt that everything happens for a reason. I was lucky enough to spend my teen years with the most unbelievably fun, outgoing friends that made me so proud of who I am & a family that has made sure i always know what i'm worth.

I know exactly how lucky i am x

Waggy Dog Bakehouse!

Back in October I had a stall at The Dog's Breakfast - along the many good things to come out of that event was having Petography's stall placed right next to Donna from The Waggy Dog Bakehouse! Donna makes 100% Certified Organic Treats for our beloved furry kids!! She makes everything from scratch & creates affordable biccies that are nothing but GOOD for your dog! Judging by the speed & enthusiasm our Alfie inhaled them, i'd say they taste pretty good too!! I was honoured when Donna contacted me to do some shots for her website & am so very proud of what we created :) Be sure to head on over to The Waggy Dog website and treat your pup to some yummy & 100% healthy biscuits!!

Meet Ollie :) He ensures that each and every batch of biccies is quality tested!!

We of course had to do some shots of Donna with her baby :) And Donna, i don't care what you say, you look fabulous in each one of these ;)

Maz The Aussie

Trista contacted me about a shoot with her baby boy after finding my card in a puppy book she received from her Vet. The picture on the front reminded her of her Pomeranian x Maltese and i am very glad it was enough to pursuade her to send me an email! Trista admitted that a year ago she would have laughed at the idea of having a photoshoot with a pet - that was until little Maz came into her life & stole her heart :) He might be teeny, but he has the heart of a lion and had no problem letting dogs 10 times his size know that he did not have time to play! Trista & her partner Ben are luv-er-lee!!! - If they weren't leaving Perth in a few weeks to head back to their home town in NZ i dare say we'd be seeing more of each other - especially since it turns out they live about 100 metres from our house!! I will literally be walking their order round for them ;) I'm honoured they trusted me enough to capture their little family & hope the photos they put up in their new home will remind them to return to Perth one day!! x

Maz, you were a little star!!!

A Beautiful Photo

Bali is a place, that as a Pertharian, you're assumed to have visited. I'm ashamed to admit i made it to 24 years of age before i got there! Aidan persisted and almost one year ago, against all my better judgement, i finally agreed to give it a go.

I.LOVED.IT.

So much so that i jumped at the chance to go back a second time in June to celebrate Dad's 50th Birthday. For me though, i imagine the things that made me fall in love with the place is likely something off putting for the majority of Bali regulars. Things like having kittens under your breakfast table in the mornings, dogs wandering through restaurants while you eat your meals and squirrels stealing the mixed nuts off the bar while you're not looking made the trip truely magical for me. The sad side of it of course is seeing the sick animals, mostly homeless due to Vet Care being something completely out of reach for most of the Balinese, so both basic immunisations and de-sexing simply doesn't happen - this leads to more dogs and more diseases being spread. It broke my heart and i wanted to take each and every dog i passed lying exhausted on the side of the road home with me and make them better.

A few weeks ago a friend sent me an email that had a link to the World Society for the Protection of Animal's Website. Among the many amazing things WSPA needed donations to fund, one really spoke to me. A donation as small as $30 could help the amazing team in Bali immunise 18 dogs and puppies. Thankfully the Balinese Government has given WSPA 6 months to vaccinate 70% of the dog population - if they can achieve this, the mass killing of thousand of dogs and puppies can be eventually stopped.

As if i didn't feel good enough about my tiny little donation - today i recieved a letter with my receipt saying Thank You from WSPA. Along with a photo that made me want to cry - never have i believed more that it is the story behind the photo that makes it beautiful.

I have officially made my new years resolution. To visit the WSPA website(www.wspa.org.au) once a month - find a cause i believe in & donate what i can to help innocent animals suffering through no fault of their own.

Sasha's Shoot :)

2011 . . . where did you come from???! After a couple of weeks off over christmas i was very keen to get back out there shooting again and i could not have asked for a better first model of the year :D

Sasha is a German Shepard x Kelpie and is the perfect sized little girl :) Her fantastic Mum and Dad rescued her as a tiny pup from the pound and Sasha is loved to bits, she even got new collar, covered in bling for her shoot! - rumour has it Sasha could get a baby brother or sister to play with later in the year :D

We hit the puppy beach nice and early to miss the 40 degree heat & it's a safe assumption that Sash was rather happpy to be there :)

Sasha, thank you for being your fabulous self x

I hope you all had a fun morning and i cannot wait to meet the new addition later in the year
